🌍 Visiting London: First and Second Conditionals (B1 Level)

1. First Conditional – Real and Possible Future

🗺 Example (Visiting London):

  • If I visit London, I will go to the London Eye.
  • If we take the underground, we will arrive faster.

🧱 Structure:

If + present simple, will + base verb

We use the first conditional to talk about real and possible situations in the future.
It describes something that is likely to happen if a certain condition is met.

The situation is real and possible: you might really visit London in the future.

2. Second Conditional – Unreal or Imaginary Present/Future

We use the second conditional to talk about unreal, imaginary, or unlikely situations.
It describes something that probably won’t happen, or is just a dream or hypothesis.

🗺 Example (Visiting London):

  • If I stayed a month in London, I would visit the towns nearby.
  • If I were rich, I would stay at a 5-star hotel in London.

🧱 Structure:

If + past simple, past simple modal verb (would/could/might/should)  + base verb

🚫 This is more hypothetical — maybe you're not planning to visit London yet, or you're just imagining what you would do.
